Ostrich Meatloaf

I haven’t had much time to catch up on what I’ve been doing in the past week, let alone past month. Anyway, On Tuesday Dec. 23 I tried making ostrich meatloaf for the first time. Which is to say, this involved using, cooking, and sampling ostrich meat for the first time.

I used my favorite meatloaf recipe and swapped out ostrich meat for the ground beef that the recipe calls for. I purchased the ostrich meat at Clark’s Nutrition Center in Loma Linda.

Anyway, the result was quite tasty, although there wasn’t a whole lot of difference in taste when compared with beef. I would imagine that ostrich meat would make a good chili, as well. At $10.79 a pound, it is a bit pricey, however. The glaze you see on top is Campbell’s Golden Mushroom soup.
